Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club
The Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club held their monthly meeting Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Christ Lutheran Church, in Eureka. Acting President Fisher Hibbs called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Duke Coulter and Tavin Austin led the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Roll Call was “What is your favorite summer activity?” and was answered by 15 members, five cloverbuds, and three leaders.

Fancy Mustangs
The July meeting for the Fancy Mustangs 4-H Club was held July 25, at Eureka Downs. The club discussed fair set up and their clubs duties and schedules for the fair. Everybody was looking forward to the fair and having a great and successful weekend.

To Be Grand Marshalls For Severy Labor Day Parade
This Labor Day weekend, two brothers who have served the Severy area throughout their careers will serve as this year’s Grand Marshalls. Louis and Carl Johnson both graduated from Severy High School (10 years apart) and after a short time, returned to the community to start their long-time careers.

Senior Meat Judging Team Named Reserve Champion Overall At Livestock Sweepstakes
The Greenwood County 4-H Livestock Sweepstakes Team traveled to Kansas State University on Aug. 17 and 18 to compete in the State Livestock Judging, Meat Judging, Livestock Skill-a-thon and Livestock Quiz Bowl. Team members were Lyle Perrier, Cody Johnson, Addison Westerman, Hannah Perrier, Cort Decker, Sydney Lindamood, Henry Perrier, Jorja Beeman and Henry Lindamood.

Another week has gone by and is in the books. School starts this week in many places; some started last week. Is it just me, or are schools starting earlier in the year? I think we didn’t start school until the last week of August and usually started on a Thursday.
