The Madison/Virgil USD 386 board of education meets on the second Monday of each month. The following report was generated from the unofficial minutes, which are subject to board approval.
President Dallas Luthi called the May 12 meeting to order at 7 p.m. Roll call was answered by D. Luthi, Ty Gaines, Justin Isch, Jannette Luthi, Jennifer Watts and Amy Hind. Also attending were Tammy Baird, Kristy Johnson, Amanda Schild, Dallas Woolf, Marcie Harrison, Dacia Brandt, and Jessica Gibson. Mark Adams joined the meeting at 7:20 p.m.
The April regular and special board meeting minutes and the agenda were approved as presented, as well as the business by consent.
Gibson spoke during Public Forum.
The board approved Option I, membership renewal and KASB Legal Assistance Fund for the 2025-2026 school year.
Brandt gave a Food Service update, which was followed by the approving the renewal addendum with updated prices with OPAA for the 2025-2026 school year.
The 2023-2024 audit was presented and approved using BFR for next year’s audit.
Cardiac Emergency Plans for the 2025-2026 school year were also approved.
Adams gave an update on transportation.
Information items discussed were Summerzone, Maintenance and Entegrity.
Principal Schild gave updates on Madison Elementary School activities, including the wax museum, science fair, and Spring music program.
Superintendent Baird gave updates to the Board on Madison Junior/Senior High School activities, including Graduation.
The board held two executive sessions, totaling 35-minutes for personnel matters. The second session included Superintendent Baird and Woolf.
After returning to open session, the board approved to hire Jenn Boles as a full time teacher for the 202526 school year; name Schild as Food Service Director for the 2025-26 school year. The board also extended Brandt’s contract to July 2025.
The meeting adjourned at 8:31 p.m.
