Hamilton High School senior Candice Ashlock recently signed a letter of intent with Allen County Community College (ACCC), where she will join the Red Devils Livestock Judging Team and pursue a Pharmacy Tech degree.

Ashlock, who has been active in FFA for three years and 4-H for two, currently serves as the Historian for Hamilton’s FFA chapter. While she hadn’t originally planned to compete at the collegiate level, the opportunity to join the livestock judging team felt like the right step.

“I never had planned to compete at a collegiate level, but the opportunity was open and I thought it would be a good start for college,” said Ashlock. “What stood out to me the most about ACCC is that it makes me feel very comfortable and is not overwhelming.”

A well-rounded student- athlete, Ashlock has earned numerous honors during her high school career. Her achievements include: LCL Basketball Honorable Mention (2x) and 2nd Team; LCL Volleyball Honorable Mention and 2nd Team (2x); Basketball All-Star Team; Volleyball All-Grassland 2nd Team; State Discus Qualifier (2x); and Regular Honor Roll and High Honor Roll distinctions.

She is the daughter of Zevi and Jamie Ashlock of Neal and the granddaughter of Sandy Ashlock of Virgil, Marlin and Camie Beitz of rural Hamilton, Jack and Rita Crumrine of rural Quincy, Zack Ashlock of Quincy; and the great-granddaughter Dolores Wiggins of rural Hamilton, Dolores Crumrine of rural Quincy and Bill Wiggins and Carol Edwards of Hamilton.
