Tornado sophomore Mason Hughes will be making his second state golf appearance this week as he placed third at the Erie 2A Regional last Monday, May 19.

After a lightning delay, the 2A Regionals at Erie was called using the front 9 scores. Hughes shot a 40 to place third and secure his spot at the state tournament.

Also representing the Tornadoes at the Erie Regional were: sophomore Easton Mead, 47; junior Jonah Werner, 58 and sophomore Tyson Coon, 63.

A special “Good Luck at State send-off” for Hughes was held on Monday of this week.

He was slated to tee off on Hole 10 on Tuesday, May 27, at Turkey Creek Country Club in McPherson. The top six teams and the next 18 individuals (not on a qualifying team) plus ties advance to compete on Wednesday, May 28.
