College basketball fans have it made each March. Each March, scores of college hoops fans anxiously anticipate the tipoff to March Madness, which is a widely used nickname for the wildly popular NCAA Tournament, a single-elimination battle featuring 68 teams competing over seven rounds. Each team aspires to win the championship, but only one can walk away with the elusive trophy. That reality ups the ante with each game, and many a nail-biter and memorable moment has taken center stage during the tournament over the years.

Eureka Recreation Soccer Schedules Announced
The Eureka Recreation Commission recently announced the schedules for the 2024 Outdoor Soccer Season. Games will begin Monday, April 18. Students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Kindergarten will play games indoors at Marshall Elementary School, while students in grades first through sixth will play at the old High School lot, located between 4th and 5th Streets and Maple and Greenwood Streets, in Eureka.

Five Bulldogs of Madison and six West Elk Patriots were recently named to All-League selection teams for their efforts this season.

Two Placed At Kids State
Two Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) members claimed plaques from the USAWKS 2024 State Folkstyle Championships over the weekend, as both finished in the top six of their weight classes.

Tornado Boys Basketball Concluded Season
The Eureka High School boys finished their season with a 2273 loss at Lyndon. This was the first round of sub-state and the Tornadoes drew the number one seeded Tigers, who are also ranked first in state. Eureka shot 19% for the game, including a 1 for 9 first quarter and a 0 for 10 third quarter. The first quarter shooting created an early deficit from which the Tornadoes were never able to recover. Any hope the Tornadoes might have had after halftime was crushed by the third quarter shooting performance.

Lady Tornadoes Back-To-Back Sub-State Champions; To Play At 2A State This Wednesday
The Lady Tornado basketball team punched their ticket to the State Basketball tournament for the second season in a row, and for the third time in school history. Last week, they went 3-0 during the Pleasanton 2A Sub-State Tournament, defeating Pleasanton, Prairie Village Kansas City Christian and Shawnee- Maranatha Christian.

The Madison boys basketball team went 2-1 at the Rosalia-Flinthills 1ADI Sub-State last week to finish the tournament as the Runner- Up.

Placed At 6U And Elementary State
Two Marshall Elementary students, in Eureka, will continue their wrestling season as they placed in the top five at the Kansas Heartland Duals Qualifier. Sixth graders Felix Neill and Adleigh Ray placed fourth and fifth, respectively, and will represent Eureka at the Kansas Heartland Duals later this month.
