Members of the Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) ventured to Burlington on Sunday, Jan. 19 for the annual Doug Vander Linden Kids Classic. There were two sessions for the classic, featuring a morning and afternoon session. Following are the individual match wins for EWC participants: 6u Boys 48-49: Zaiden Meza placed 4th.
6u Boys 51-52 B: Remington Genoble placed 4th.
6u Boys 53-54: Kase Vinson placed 1st. He won by fall over Knute Fox (Council Grove Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:23); won by fall over Riggs Gumfory (Iola Kids Wrestling) (Fall 1:19); and won by fall over Michael Eurich (The Best Wrestler) (Fall 2:00).
6u Boys 60-61: Graham Bechtel placed 1st. He won by fall over Cade Sommer (Council Grove Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:33); and won an 18-0 tech fall over Gatlin Grosdidier (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling).
8u Girls 59-63: Oaklyn Smith placed 3rd. She won by fall over SueAnn Freerksen (Trailhands) (Fall 0:40).
8u Boys 50-54: Jad Day placed 3rd. He won a 10-0 major decision over Trevor Clark (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling).
8u Boys 53-57: Maddox Ring placed 4th.
8u Boys 54-59: Kaydenn Winn placed 4th.
8u Boys 60-62: Tucker Williams placed 4th.
8u Boys 78-85: Carson Eismann placed 4th.
8u Boys Novice 62-67: Ethan Chastain placed 4th.
10u Girls 53-58: Miah Hughes placed 4th.
10u Girls 59-64: Brynlee Ashlock placed 1st. She won by fall over Mary Alice Bell (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling) (Fall 0:07); won a 12-2 major decision over Ainsley Hastings (Trailhands); and won by fall over Daisie Lacey (Paola Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:18).
10u Girls 82-89: Elena McCoy placed 3rd. She won an 11-3 major decision over Avery Nolan (The best wrestler).
10u Boys 78-83: Keon Jones placed 2nd. He won a 12-7 decision over Braxton Jones (The Best Wrestler); and won by fall over Luke Kelley (Burlington Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:26).
10u Boys 80-86: Carter Ring placed 4th.
10u Boys NOVICE 66-72: Carter Winn placed 3rd. He won a 10-9 decision over August Renfro (Osage Indians Wrestling Club); and won a 16-1 tech fall over Kaleb Summer (OZ Trojan Wrestling Club).
10u Boys NOVICE 75-81: Daniel Camp placed 3rd. He won by fall over Gabriel Howard (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling) (Fall 0:39).
14u Boys 104-110: Maddox Hughes placed 2nd. He won a 15-0 tech fall over Bo Thomsen (Burlington Wrestling Club); won by fall over Trystin Agee (Red Devil Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:02); and won a 16-7 major decision over Cooper Bradley (Lawrence Elite Wrestling Club).
14u Boys 109-118: Christian Sanchez placed 1st. He won a 14-3 major decision over Jaxon Wilcox (Sunflower Kids); won by fall over Kolseon Whalen-Sells (Wellsville Kid Matters Wrestli) (Fall 0:58); and won an 18-2 tech fall over Hunter LIes (Bluestem) (TF 18-2).
14u Boys 116-120: Tate Scott placed 1st. He won a 15-0 tech fall over Walker Leabo (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling); and won by fall over Jacob Hodges (Wellsville Kid Matters Wrestli) (Fall 1:47).
14u Boys 140-149: Jadden Winn placed 3rd. He won an 11-8 decision in sudden victory - 1 over Waylon Allen (Chanute Wrestling Club).
