Minnie Jo Northedge
Minnie Jo Northedge of Eureka, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 85. She was born on March 10, 1939, in Chautauqua County, the daughter of Joseph Isaac and Minnie Belle (Tannahill) Dye. She was raised in Sedan and graduated from Sedan High School with the Class of 1957. On August 16, 1960, Minnie Jo was united in marriage to Kenneth Allen Northedge in Eureka. They made their home in Eureka. Minnie Jo was a nurse’s aide for Greenwood County Hospital for over thirty years. 06/04/2024 11:00 PM

The bi-monthly meeting of the Greenwood County 4-H Council was held on May 20 at 7 p.m. in Neal with 14 members, five leaders and one agent in attendance. Greenwood County Commissioners Held Regular Business Meeting
On Monday, June 3, Courthouse Maintenance Supervisor Greg Rawlings followed up with commissioners on the three quotes presented last week for compressor replacement for the courthouse chiller. Rawlings shared that his recommendation was to proceed with the project through Modern Air. Discussion ensued in regards to replacement of just one compressor or two. Commissioner Roy Ballard discussed cleaning the system and noted that only one of the compressors need replaced. Ballard commented that they were not going to get it perfectly clean. Rawlings voiced no opposition to putting one in rather than two, however noted he would recommend putting in a new filter in 6 months if they go with one. A 1-year warranty is offered for the new compressor(s). Commissioners made a motion to approve Modern Air for compressor replacement at $12,264 with the option for Rawlings to get the second compressor–taking the total to $20,205-if needed. 06/04/2024 11:00 PM

The East Central Kansas Model T Ford Club (ECKMT) meets the second Thursday of the month. The ECKMTs will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, in the conference room of the Burlington Library. The library is located on Highway 75 in Burlington.
