Fundraisers are underway to assist the Zimmers family as Kristy Zimmers is scheduled for back surgery next Monday, March 17.
“For the past 15 years, Zimmers has been a dedicated para-educator at USD 389, pouring her heart into the lives of countless students. She is not only an incredible educator but also a compassionate mentor who goes above and beyond to ensure student success. As a sponsor of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Kristy leads with faith, love, and unwavering support—she would do anything short of sin to help a student thrive,” stated the GoFundMe page.
Unfortunately, Kristy has been suffering from excruciating pain for months due to severe pressure in her L5-S1 spinal region. She endured the agony, hesitant to rack up medical bills, but the pain became unbearable—forcing her to miss work and leaving her immobilized. After multiple MRI's, epidural injections, and physical therapy, she has finally found a doctor willing to help. Kristy is scheduled for surgery on March 17.
A Pizza Hut fundraiser is being planned for Wednesday, March 19, with a portion of that day’s sales going to the Zimmers family.
A GoFundMe has also been created to assist the family. Monetary donations can also be mailed in care of the family to The Eureka Herald. Checks should be made payable to Kristy or Jeff Zimmers. Donations can be brought to 822 E. River St., Ste 100 in Eureka or mailed to Kristy Zimmers, c/o The Eureka Herald, PO Box 590, Eureka, KS 67045.
