Two Residents Placed At State Special Olympics

Fourteen law enforcement officers from Lyon and Greenwood counties, and their support crew, carried the “Flame of Hope” through Greenwood County last Thursday afternoon, as a kick off to the 2018 State Special Olympic Games that were held in Maize last Saturday, June 2.

Greenwood County residents Scott McMullen and Kaden White both qualified for multiple events at the state games.

Eureka’s McMullen competed in the 10M manual wheelchair, 25M manual wheelchair race, 30M slalom manual wheelchair, 25M obstacle course manual wheelchair and softball throw, placing second in four of the events. He received silver in the: 10M manual wheelchair, with a time of 8.78; 25M manual wheelchair race, with a time of 18.98; 30M slalom manual wheelchair, 34.6; and 25M obstacle course manual wheelchair, with a time of 41.6. He placed 8th in the softball throw, with a distance of 8.6 meters.
