Greenwood County Hospital will always hold a special place in my heart. This community hospital is so much more than a medical facility. It is a place where friends provide much needed care to your loved ones. Four years ago, my mother was diagnosed with Stage IV Melanoma that had metastasized to the brain. Hospital stays were inevitable. Throughout the next two years, she was in and out of hospitals or care facilities and the best care that she received was in our hometown. Not only did they provide the care she needed, but they did so with compassion. They answered so many questions for my family and made sure we understood every detail of her treatment. When it came to the end, Greenwood County Hospital and its staff made sure that not only Mom was comfortable, but took care of her children too. From basically allowing us to “move in,” to ensuring that we were eating. They took care of us, physically and emotionally. Without our community hospital, I wouldn’t have been able to be with my beloved mother nearly as much. I am blessed to have our hospital, our COMMUNITY hospital, and will forever be grateful for the staff that helped me through the loss of my mother.
