We are certainly living in strange times. The 2020 Legislative Session was no exception, very strange. The Session began with the Senate President announcing her run for Pat Roberts’ Senate seat. As such, at every opportunity, press releases promoting her actions or denouncing the Governor became part of this session’s politics.
Kansas Senate Committees were slow to bring legislation to the floor, partly because the Senate President feared a bill could be amended to include Medicaid Expansion. Consequently, very little was moved to the floor. Additionally, zero House bills were going to be considered by the President, since the House didn’t pass the Value them Both Constitutional Amendment, which she had authored. This isn’t rumor, she stated it.
