Where have the days gone? Fall is well upon us. This time of year is one of the busiest for the fire departments. We recognize Fire Prevention Week and honor the history of the fire service, as well as remember those that have served and given the ultimate sacrifice. Nationwide, on average, we lose 100 firefighters in the line of duty every year. Many of those are from volunteer departments. One little known fact is that nearly sixty percent of the firefighters in the United States are volunteers.
