FREDERICK DALE STEVENSON

Frederick Dale Stevenson I of Eureka, Kansas peacefully passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 in his home, at the age of 81. He was born on August 9, 1938, in Oregon City, Oregon. He was the son of the late Hamilton I. Stevenson and Alice Houghtaling. Raised in Brightwood/Sandy, Oregon he fore moving to Washington, then Wyoming, Iowa, Texas and finally settled in Kansas in 2007. He worked in the logging industry before settling into the life of a farmer and was a member of the New Life Assembly of God of Eureka. He is survived by his dear friend and companion Debbie Ramos, loving father of two wonderful daughters, Donna Marie Barlow of Eureka; and Monica Irene Stevenson of Douglass; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters. Further survived by nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and two sisters. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, uncle, grandfather, brother, and stranger to no one. A man who made friends wherever he went with a joke ready at any moment and a smile on his face. Cremation has been effected. Memorial services will be held in his garden, at a later date.

GREAT BEND - Leila Joyce (Pearce) Messick, 90, passed away May 16, 2020, at Brookdale Assisted Senior Living, Great Bend. Leila was born on August 23, 1929, in Hollis, Kansas, to Chester & Ada (Bleu) Pearce. She married Roy H. Miller, on March 15, 1949. Roy passed away February 28, 1987. Leila then married Jack Messick, on June 8, 1990, in Alden, Kansas.

John AlAn Guthrie

John Alan Guthrie, 86, US Army veteran, died April 25, 2020. He was born near Neola, Kansas to John H. and Minnie (Black) Guthrie on February 15, 1934. His family included Norma (Gary), Richard, Robert (Janet), Kenneth (Judy), and Keith (Janet) plus nephews and nieces, including Charlene and Anne of Eureka. He graduated from Stafford High School in 1952 and Santa Monica City College.
