Jackie Wilbur Bunyard, 82, of Augusta, KS, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2021, at Leon Cemetery, Leon, KS. Jackie was born in Yukon, OK on July 3, 1938, to the late Della Kathryn (Holloway) and Orville A. Bunyard. Jack grew up in Coats, KS until around age 15. He traveled with his dad and uncle doing custom wheat cutting in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. Farming was his first love at a very young age. His family moved into the Hayesville, KS area where Jack attended school and shortly after, transferred to Derby schools. While attending Derby schools, he met the love of his life. Jack and Melba (Landon) were married March 21, 1958 in Newton, KS. They became parents to two children, Billy and Debbie. Jack drove a transport fuel truck for a short time, and in 1968 he built Bunyard’s Service Center in Wichita, KS.
Dale Lynn Haney, 74, died Friday, January 8, 2021 at his home in Madison.
Amanda Lee (Shelburn) Biering went to be with her Gran, uncle, brother and her dog Ollie on Monday, January 4, 2021, at the age of 35.
Evelyn (Drebes) Nelson, 98 of Eureka, Kansas (formerly of Overland Park, Kansas) passed away, December 10, 2020 at the Eureka Nursing Center. She has arrived safely to her Eternal home, and was “Home for Christmas” after living a very blessed and long life.
James (Mason) Brookover died on December 8, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mason was born in Eureka, Kansas on July 31, 1936 to Harrison and Marjory Brookover. He grew up in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School in 1954. Upon graduation, he joined the Marines and was stationed in California. After discharge, he returned home and graduated from Emporia State University.
