On Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, our beloved father, Robert Leon Hughes passed away after a short illness. Leon was born July 8, 1945 in Bixby, Okla. and spent his childhood in Eureka, KS. He spent most of his adult life in the Houston and Willis, Texas area. Leon enjoyed the stillness of lake life, spending time on his boat, flying, going for walks with his dogs and tinkering with electronics and woodworking in his workshop. Leon served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic and worked for Western Union in microwave transmission for civil defense for many years. He was an avid ham radio operator using call sign AC5F. Some say he was a patriot, others that he was an electronics geek. We knew him as both of these things and as a quiet wonderful human being. Leon was preceded in death by his father, Charles; mother, Irene; sister, Charlene; and three grandchildren.
Cynthia “Cindy” Dorey, 68, of Eureka, died Sunday, April 26, 2020.
