County Commissioners Held Routine Meeting

Commissioners began their meeting on Monday, as usual, with a report from Road and Bridge supervisor Darrell Chrisman. They approved a bid from Criqui Construction Inc., of Melvern, for work on the bridge on FF Road, north of 200th Street. The bid of $25,225 will include sheet piling so that the wing wall can be built back up. Chrisman planned to get more information from the contractor about work on other bridges in the area, including two bridges on 60th and one on 70th. They also approved repairs to a county grader, not to exceed $7,000.

In other business, commissioners discussed a letter they received several weeks ago from Kingsley Properties, regarding the status of a piece of the old 400 Highway near Beaumont. County counselor Paul Dean clarified that the road has never been abandoned/vacated by the county and remains an active township road. Kingsley properties was interested in moving a fence line to the middle of the road and sharing the fence costs with neighboring property owners. Dean explained they either need to rebuild their fence where it currently is, or petition to close the road.
