Bucks Rewarded To Drivers Who Buckled Up
Last Wednesday, August 28, Safe Kids Kansas, State Farm and the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office partnered up for a safety message.
The group met at the intersection of 7th and Jefferson Streets, in Eureka, where they presented $1 to vehicles that all passengers were buckled up. An informational card was presented to those vehicles that all passengers weren’t buckled up. During the one-hour time slot, 130 vehicles came through the intersection. Of those 130 vehicles, 125 of them received $1.
According to the 2017 KDOT Seat Belt Survey, 88 percent of Kansas surveyed were wearing their seat belts. This compared to the national average is 90 percent. Kansas ranked 43rd in belt use in 2017, amount 50 states and the District of Columbia.
