Hamilton Special Meeting Held For Street Discussion
On Tuesday, June 18, members of the Hamilton City Council held a special meeting for consultation of their treasurer as they look at plans for a street project. Also included on the special meeting agenda was discussion of the attorney position. As attorney candidate Clark Allemang was unable to be present, discussion of this subject was postponed and is to be revisited at a later date.

Inwood Attended SEKLS Innovation Day
Library staff from Hamilton City Library attended the Southeast Kansas Library System (SEKLS) Innovation Day Event held at the Iola High School Science Center in Iola on June 7. Beth Inwood, Director of the Hamilton City Library, was among the 36 people who were in attendance as Darrin Daugherty, SEKLS Technology Consultant; Jason Robb, SEKLS SEKnFind Coordinator; April Hernandez, SEKLS System Consultant; Tammie Benham, SEKLS Youth Services Consultant and Cynthia Chalker, Special Needs Consultant, presented various presentations on Makerspace Software, Canva, LibraryAware, Cricut Design, Word-Press/DIVI and Kansas State Library Databases. They shared information about how libraries statewide can best use technology funds and programs to market their services. Laure Beckman and Brittany Simpson from Mound City Kansas Public Library provided instruction on the Cricut.

The inaugural Clasen Family Memorial junior/ senior golf tournament was held on Saturday, June 22, at the Eureka Country Club, with 27 teams competing for top honors.

What To Know About Fireworks Injuries
Fireworks are a common sight at various celebrations throughout the year, but are most prominent during the summer months when Canada Day and Independence Day are celebrated. Fireworks have been in use for thousands of years. Many historians believe fireworks were developed in Liuyang, China, in the second century B.C. The first “fireworks” were made from bamboo stalks that, when thrown into a fire, would explode due to hollow pockets of air in the bamboo, says the American Pyrotechnic Association. Eventually early gunpowder recipes provided the boom behind the fireworks, and modern fireworks are not very different from those early incarnations.
