Eureka Garden Club

The regular monthly meeting of the Eureka Garden Club met on Friday, March 7, at TNT Catering for lunch at 11:30 a.m. After lunch, President Vicki Lindsey called the meeting to order. She expressed appreciation to Marilyn Seymour and Carol Ann Flock for being the hostesses. Thirteen members and one associate member were present. In April, the club will have a plant and/or gardening accessory exchange. Flock told of her experiences attending the Rose Bowl Parade. Melinda Nichols and Cheryl Sowder both told of their experiences attending the Rose Bowl parade and were able to help decorate the Shriners floats. It took approximately 36,500 flowers, 5,000 of them roses, to decorate a float. Sylvie Frakes reported that Salt Creek Farms will open on March 26. They will have bedding plants and potting soil. Their open house will be in May. In the fall, they will have Farm-to-Table food.

Sowder and Nichols won gift cards to S&L Hardware for door prizes.

Next month’s meeting will be held on April 11 with Cammie Wilson and Sherrie Dennis as hostesses.

The meeting was adjourned by standing and repeating the “Gardener’s Creed.”
