Monthly Events Continue At Eureka Public Library
Throughout the year, Eureka Public Library hosts various events to encourage patrons to visit the local library. Not only can you rent books, audiobooks and movies, but you can join staff for craft activities, story hours and even game nights.

Named Business Woman Of The Month
- submitted by Audra Hemingway, secretary The Eureka business women met on Tuesday, May 7 at the Greenwood County Hospital basement meeting room. There were 13 members and one guest present. The guest was Sara Shivers, who was business woman of the month and she also provided the program for the meeting. Roll call was answered by, “Your favorite thing to do on Memorial Day weekend?”

Celebrating 50th Anniversary
Alan and Teresa (Bane) McCoy will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 18. The couple was married in Eureka in 1974. They currently reside in Oakley.

Outdoor Plants To Avoid For Pet Owners
People generally do not give much thought to the plants they include in their homes and yards beyond the care instructions and how they can add to the aesthetic appeal. Homeowners may know if a plant likes the sun or shade, but they may not realize its potential for toxicity. That’s because adults in particular are not prone to ingesting the plants in their yard that are inedible, unlike curious pets that may sniff and nibble plants when exploring their environments. For those with dogs and cats that will spend time outdoors, it’s best to be aware of these potentially toxic plants, courtesy of the ASPCA, Dr. Buzby’s and Garden Design.

K-State Alumni Club, Catbackers Award Scholarships To Students In Emporia Area
MANHATTAN – Eight area students have been awarded scholarships to Kansas State University totaling $5,200. The scholarships were awarded by the Flint Hills Catbackers, the Col. Gayle Foster Endowed Scholarship Fund and the K-State Alumni Association.
