Zula M. Bilson

Zula’s life began on November 3, 1946 in Eureka, the daughter of Odie Z. and Rachel (Hublets) Gee. She was united in marriage to Elwyn P. Bilson on October 16, 1964 in Eureka, at the First Baptist Church. Zula worked hard for her family and worked many jobs to help support her family’s needs. She spent time working for Dairy Queen, a clothing store called “Stage,” the First Baptist Church Daycare, worked for Knutson Manor (now Lakepoint) and even cared for the George Meyers family. Zula loved crafting and made many treasures using cross-stitch, crochet and popsicle sticks. Zula had a loving and a giving heart. She loved to spend time enjoying old hymns and following her faith. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her loving family includes her husband, Elwyn; children Gwynn (Lilli) Bilson of Benton, Brad (Victoria Humig) Bilson of El Dorado, Shannon (Joe) Taylor of El Dorado; grandchildren: D.J. Bilson, Charlie Bilson, Rachel Ruth, Alexa McAvoy; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister Esther Lewis and numerous nieces, nephews, with extended family and friends that will miss Zula dearly.

Zula passed away on December 12, 2023 in Andover. She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Fred, Nina, Gwynn, Kenneth and Nelsie.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 18 at 10 a.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Zula will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.
