WAYNE DILLON BARKUS

Wayne Dillon Barkus, age 59 of Tyro, Ks, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022.

Wayne was born May 30, 1963 in Winfield, Ks to Donald and Sue (Satterlee) Barkus. He was raised by Don and Norma Barkus in Howard, Ks, and attended West Elk High School, graduating in the class of 1981.

Wayne started working at a young age in his dad’s automotive shop and then as a mechanic for Ron Warrington at his garage in Howard. He continued working for Ron for a couple of years after graduating, until he went to work for A-Lert Construction Services. He started his career as a Millwright and worked his way up to Supervisor and Certified Crane Operator. He then retired in July 2021, after a 37 year career with them.

Wayne is survived by his father, Donald (Norma) Barkus of Tyro, Ks; mother, Sue Webber of Apache Junction, Az; children: Brandi (John) Mustain of Altoona, Ks, Gatlin (Cassidy) Barkus of Burlington, Ks, Dalton (Lily) Pendleton of Neodesha, Ks and Oneisha (Dylan) Morgan of Moline, Ks; grandchildren: Chance Mustain, Makayla Mustain, Mason Mustain, Elias Barkus, Payton Pendleton, Minnie Pendleton, Garrett Pendleton, Nolan Pendleton, Olivia Pendleton, Owen Morgan, and Rylee Morgan; and sisters, Donna (Mike) Rozell of Winfield, Ks, Melissa Barkus (Tracy Beitz) of Eureka, Ks and Marcy (Scott) Freed of Tyro, Ks.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Ks.
