Ruth (Penner) Fanning

Fanning Ruth (Penner) Fanning,72, of Eureka, died on Thursday, June 23, 2022.

She was born in Clayton, Okla., on May 3, 1950. She graduated from West High School, in Wichita.

After high school, she was united in marriage. This later ended in divorce. She moved to southern California to live with her sister, Ruby. While in California, she began her work in a doctor’s office as a biller. She worked for one of St. Jude’s medical group for 30 years. She worked for Greenwood County Hospital for 15 years, retiring in October 2021.

She was united in marriage to Don Fanning on May 29, 1993. In 2001, they adopted their oldest grandson, Jacob. In 2004, they moved to Eureka.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Fanning, of the home; son, Jacob of Eureka; two step-daughters, Stephanie Marie Washington and Rebecca Ann Lavarnia both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren and three sisters, Mary Booker of Atlanta, Ga.; Betty McOmber of Stayton, Ore. and Kay Hodges of Wather, Ga.

She as preceded in death by two older brothers and one older sister.

A memorial service will be held at Jefferson Street Baptist Church, on September 3, at 2 p.m.
