DONNA PETTYJOHN

Donna Beth (Morgan) Pettyjohn, 81, of Wichita, passed away October 6, 2021, at KU Medical Center.

Donna was born July 9, 1940 in New Albany to Tomas and Edith Morgan. She grew up with two sisters, Joyce Bradshaw and Sue Prytherch, and graduated from West High School in the class of 1958.

On July 6, 1957 she married the love her life Clarence (Slim) Pettyjohn. They met through family at Grandma Kebert’s home, and the rest is history. They ran away and got married and never looked back.

Donna was a homemaker and raised her three children and later 57 others while at Cookson Hills Children’s Home and moved to assume the role of house parents in OK, KS, MS and ended that phase of their lives in KS. She then began her own home cleaning business, Cleansed and Polished, that was extremely successful and is still in existence today and was passed on to a granddaughter. During that time they began a business in Severy, The Swap Shop. Her and Slim ran that business for several years. They have lived their retirement years in Wichita and remained busy and involved. Slim and Donna lived their lives with a servant’s heart for the Kingdom of God.

Survivors include her husband, Slim Pettyjohn, and sister, Joyce (Bill) Bradshaw of Claremore, OK. Three children: Mike (Terri) Pettyjohn, Cindy (Jerry) Spilinek, and Tom (Kristi) Pettyjohn. Donna loved her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She loved to stay up with their lives by calling them often. She loved all of her children and grandchildren very much and was proud to tell anyone who would listen about their escapades and lives.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Edith Morgan, her sister, Sue Prytherch, and her grandson, Jordan Pettyjohn, her much beloved mother-in-law, known to all as Grandma Goldie Jared.

Donna was a giver to the end, always thinking of other people and was conscious to never be a burden to anybody. She delighted in sharing baked goods, garden vegetables, or anything she could think of with the family and friends she loved so much.

Services will be at 11:00 AM at Countryside Funeral Home at 206 E. Washington in Howard, KS. Internment will be at Weekly Cemetery in New Albany following the service. There will be a luncheon at the First Methodist Church in Severy, KS following graveside services and all are welcome.
