Betty Louise Boone

Betty Louise Boone of Neal, reunited with her sweetheart, and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at her home in Neal, at the age of 89.

She was born May 11, 1933, in Neal, the daughter of Amos Blossom and Aleda May (Shumard) Harber.

She was raised in Neal, and attended local schools, graduating from Neal High School with the Class of 1951. On May 26, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Thaine Martin Boone in Neal. To this union, six children were born.

They made their home near Neal, where they ranched.

Betty influenced the lives of a great many young people through 4-H where she was a project leader and a teacher of sewing and cooking. Over the years, they took many people into their home where Thaine would hire them, and she would feed them. Hospitality was always a focus for Betty; she would cater many events for people through the years, and she was known for her bread baking. She was a dedicated farm wife, she could spend the day driving a truck, tractor, or riding a horse, and still have a full spread for dinner. Her family was her true devotion. She found great joy in holding new grandbabies and her family did their best to keep her arms full. Thaine preceded her in death on February 12, 2016.

Betty was a Deaconess of the Neal Evangelical Free Church, the Gideons International Auxiliary, was a Community Leader for the Fancy Mustangs 4-H Club.

She is survived by her children: Sandra and husband, Greg Brewer of Elbing; June and husband, Brett Laaser of Springtown, Texas; Suzan and husband, Mike Greenwood of Hamilton; Carol and husband, John Blaes of Cherryvale; Kim Boone and wife, Karla Boone of Neal; and Tricia and husband, Shawn Couch of Fredonia; 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thaine; and three siblings: Roy Lester “Pop” Harber, Robert Joseph Harber, and Joyce Elaine Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2022, at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka, with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. Interment will follow at Neal Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5 – 7 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Gideons International or to the Neal Evangelical Free Church.
