ALVIN “LEROY” HAWN

Alvin Leroy Hawn of Wasilla Alaska, Born September 1, 1934, went to meet his Lord on September, 1 2021.

Preceding him in death were his parents, James Edward Hawn and Mary Jane (Brannon) Hawn, two sons, Raymond and Chris Hawn, one grandson, Jacob Leroy Hawn, seven sisters and one brother.

Survivors include, two sons, James E. Hawn of Superior, Wyo. and Dennis and wife Rachel Hawn of Coffeyville, four grandchildren, Chris, Bert, Maddie and Patrick Hawn, five great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leroy (as most knew him) was born and raised in Caney. He graduated from Caney High School in 1952.

He married Lillian Augustine. This marriage later ended in divorce.

He moved to Wichita, where he worked in the wholesale grocery business with Fleming Foods, during the 1950s. He then moved his family to rural Climax in the mid 1960s. He continued to work at Fleming Foods until retiring in the 1970s and started Hawn’s Farm Tire Service in rural Climax. He later relocated the business to Severy and had Hawn’s Farm Tire Service and Laundry. He also operated the Continental Trailways Bus Terminal.

With all his boys gone, Leroy moved to Colorado in the early 1980s, then on to Alaska, shortly after. While living in Alaska, he decided to go into Missionary work. He did not become a preacher, but used his talents to build schools, churches and drill water wells while spreading the Lord’s Word in Kenya.

Leroy was an adventurous man and all that knew him, know it. Leroy touched many lives throughout his life. He Leroy touched many lives throughout his life. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Cremation has taken place and private memorials will take place at a later date.
