Mayor Richard Clark called the Howard City Council January meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 2, with council members Martin Hunter, Derek Cookson, Erica Cordell and Gary Harrod present. Also present were Sarah Evans and Joanna Hunter. Council member Jerrad Pope was expected to be late.

Named Businesswoman Of The Month
The Eureka businesswomen met on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the Greenwood County Hospital basement meeting room. There were nine members and two guests present. Guests were LaTisha Smalley, businesswoman of the month, guest of Diana Cole, and Chase Thornock, who provided the program for the evening. Roll call was answered by “What fun and exciting accomplishment do you want to do this year?”
