Storm Sirens Discussed During Eureka City Council Meeting
Community member Pam Kurtz was on the Eureka City Council agenda for Monday, April 23 to discuss the storm siren at Eureka Lake. Kurtz read a statement covering her research into storm sirens, which was prompted after the Eureka Lake siren failed to sound during a recent storm.

CSC Hosts Annual Rising Sophomore Ceremony
CHADRON, Neb. Chadron State College (CSC) students and employees gathered for the ninth annual Rising Sophomore awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 17. Dr. Jim Powell, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Chadron State College, was the keynote speaker. He came to CSC in 2015 as the Dean for Assessment, Accreditation, Curriculum and Education, Human Performance, Counseling, Psychology, and Social Work. Powell, who became the Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2020, is retiring at the end of June. Grady Fox, of Severy, was among the list to receive an award, under the subject of history. He is pursuing a degree in Social Science, grades 7-12.
