Volleyball Team Bounced Back, Placed 2nd at Circle

TOWANDA - The Eureka High School Volleyball Team was in action last Saturday at Circle High School and had a great day going 4-1 on the day and placing second. After having a rough Tuesday at Erie (see related article), the ladies did a 180 and played outstanding all day long against some really good competition, the Wichita Defenders, a team Eureka had beat earlier in the year. The Tornadoes dispatched of them 25-17, 25-22. Scoring for the Tornadoes were Madison Dehlinger 8, Shae Richardson 6, Camryn Hoover and Brooklyn Hilton each with 5 and Zoee Valentine 3. Both Hoover and Hilton tallied 8 kills, Dehlinger had 4, Valentine had 2 and Kennedy Johnson had 1 of the Tornadoes 23 kills. Eureka recorded 15 assists, with Hilton recording 7, Valentine 5 and Ashleigh Casper, Haley Broyles and Dehlinger all having 1. The Lady Tornadoes tallied 29 digs, with Dehlinger leading the way with 8. Hoover had 7, Richardson and Valentine each had 4. Broyles, Johnson and Hilton all had 2.

Eureka squared off against the host Thunderbirds beating them in three sets, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-12. Scoring for Eureka were: Hoover 14, Dehlinger 12. Richardson 7, Valentine 5, Casper and Hilton each with 3 and Broyles 1. Eureka tallied 30 kills, with Hilton leading the way with 13. Dehlinger had 8, Hoover 7, and Bryka Nixon 2. Recording blocks were Emilee Escareno 2 and Hover 1. The Lady Tornadoes recorded 23 assists, with Valentine leading the way with 13. Hilton had 9 and Nixon had 1. Eureka recorded 70 digs, with Dehlinger leading the way with 18. Hoover tallied 13, Ashleigh Casper 11, Hilton 9, Valentine 8, Richardson 4, Nixon 3 and Broyles, Escareno and Johnson each with 2.
