Seven Placed At Annual Tournament; Kendall Beitz Now Holds Career Win Record

Twelve Tornado high school wrestlers traveled to Towanda last Friday and Saturday for the annual Circle Invitational. Tornado seniors Kendall Beitz and Kolby Beitz claimed championship honors in their weight divisions. Sophomores Brennan Lowe and Brent Escareno both placed second. Tornado sophomore Connor Booth-Hughes placed fourth and freshman Garrison Spoonts and senior Jonathan Turner both placed 5th.

As a team, Eureka placed second with 153.5 team points, behind Frontenac who finished the tournament with 209. Smokey Valley was third with 145.5 and Council Grove was fourth with 128.5.

Over the weekend, Kendall Beitz recorded his 140th career win to claim the record. Kendall broke the record of his former coach and two-time state champion, Nash Burtin, who had set the record in 2006 with 138 career wins.
