Ladies Defeated Bluestem Lions

The Lady Tornado basketball team opened up play hosting the Bluestem Lions on Tuesday, January 2.

The Tornadoes came into the game having not played in 16 days and got off to a somewhat slow start in their return to action. Bluestem jumped out of the gates with a 4-0 run, with all points coming from leading scorer Addyson Emmons. Holding Emmons in check was no easy task for the Lady Tornadoes as the junior guard entered the contest averaging 22 points per game and ended the night with 23 points.

Eureka’s Madison Dehlinger got her team on the scoreboard first with a basket off an assist from Jennifer Torrey. With the first points on the board, the Lady Tornadoes settled in and went on a 10-4 run to take a 14-8 first quarter lead. The damage could have been much worse but Eureka failed to connect on easy baskets shooting just 38% from the field.
