Junior High Tornado Football Beat Humboldt, Now 5-0
The Eureka Junior High Tornadoes improved to 5-0 Thursday with their 36-0 win over the Humboldt Cubs. The win, in their first game at home since 2017, puts the Tornadoes in the driver’s seat to win the Tri-Valley League title for the 2019 season.
The Cubs received the ball to begin the game, putting together a nice drive that ended with a turnover on downs at the Tornadoes’ 10 yard-line. A 60-yard run by Carson Spoonts quickly reversed the field position and the Tornadoes capitalized with a 22-yard touchdown run by Wylie Boulanger. Dominic Samuels ran the ball for the conversion and the Tornadoes led 8-0.
The Tornado defense then destroyed the Cub offense on their next possession, forcing them to punt after being pushed back 12-yards. As has been their habit this season, the Tornadoes struck quickly, following a 31-yard pass from Blake Rucker to Boulanger with an 8-yard touchdown run by Boulanger. Once again, Samuels ran in the extra point, making the score 16-0.
