Streets and taxes

Around about 2005 I happened to find myself in Seattle, Wash. It’s a beautiful city, at least it was then, and after a couple of purchases I realized how Seattle affords all the amenities I was seeing. The sales tax at that time was 19%,   don’t have any idea what it is now but I doubt it has gone down. The point is, and we all know this, there is no free lunch. All those things we want in a city have to be paid for and taxes provide for that.

I hear quite often how Eureka has high taxes and it seems that is the case. Don’t forget, I pay the same taxes as everybody else here and it does add up. Sometimes they are referring to property tax or sometimes to the sales tax. But what if we really put it into perspective? Let’s look at the sales tax.
