Our society has changed greatly over the years, and I must say I am saddened to see many of the changes. As a child, my parents would let me ride my bicycle through town with one stipulation.... “you better be home before the street light comes on.” This was the rule for most kids my age. We would leave a note sharing a vague destination as friends would meet up and simply ride our bikes or play outside at a specific location. We didn’t have cell phones. We were trusted to behave, and return in one piece. I’ll be the first to admit that parents must have been crazy, as I can’t imagine doing that today. Not because of not allowing my kids to “spread their wings” but just knowing all the craziness our world possesses now.
