Crafting Fun In Toronto

On Saturday Sept. 7, 2019, Back Bay Mercantile held a “Drinkin’ and Craftin’ Nite” on Main Street in Toronto. Our hostess and teacher for the night’s project was Jessica Valentine, who is a co-owner of the shop and a local artist. Valentine had broadcasted her event on the Back Bay Mercantile Facebook page. With my growing enchantment for one of Toronto’s newest shops, I decided to give it a try.

For a fee, I received all of the materials to create, stamp and paint an 11x11 lathe wood wall-hanging, under the guidance of Valentine’s experienced tutelage. Valentine’s theme for the night was “home” and the stencils she provided said things like, “Home is where the heart is,” and “Home is where the horses run free”. These were all sayings relevant to any good, country, Kansas home.
