Food Safety Tips for

Summer Dog Days

It’s time for the long hot and humid dog days of summer! Now that the county fair is over, our cares may turn to “Back to School” or our last summer get-away or camping trip. With so much on our plates, it’s still important to consider the safety of the foods we prepare to put on our plates. These four USDA food safety tips to keep your family’s food safe are great reminders when we are preparing foods for our last summer picnic, grilling, or purchasing foods at our favorite Farmer’s Market.

CLEAN-Washing your hands with soap and water before and after handling or preparing raw foods is the best defense when it comes to spreading germs and preventing food poisoning. When 1 in 6 Americans get sick from food poisoning this year, don’t let it be someone in your family.
