According to K-State beef cattle experts with the Beef Cattle Institute, it is crucial to evaluate your management practices when it comes to cattle health in extreme cold conditions. Many were able to retreat indoors in the negative degree windchills much of our area faced just before Christmas, but for our cattle out on pasture, a warm barn is not always and option.

Many prayed for rain over the last couple of years and now some of those prayers have been answered. While not all of the Greenwood County ponds have been filled, some have and that is as much as we could ask for. What does this mean for GW County? This means that more cattle will be purchased and brought in to fill these hills. And what a blessing that is. These hills are made for cattle and we are excited to have water once again.
