Just Thinkin’

In previous Just Thinkin’s, I have referenced my “love-hate” relationship with television commercials. Recently the “windows and bladders” folks have launched a barrage of commercials that might be too much. They are testing my belief that positive results can be gained through repetition.

Well Summer is upon us; along with grilling season, long and busy days, ball games, 4-H events, lake days, and various other extracurricular activities. Moral of the story? We are all busy and sometimes it can be hard to find the time to sit down and share a meal with family, let alone a balanced one. Sometimes it is just easier to grab that bag of chips from the pantry, or that donut off the counter. However, there are some steps we can take to make those healthy eating choices and habits a little easier.

It’s Fair time and we are back with the conclusion to our Fair week rundown.We have discussed everything through Saturday and now time to close it out! Sunday the 4-H and FFA families are going to be tired…. but there is no stopping them now! Sunday morning the Shriners are hosting the pancake breakfast from 7:30-10:30 a.m. with a worship service in the barn from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The competition begins with the 4-H Whiffle ball game at 10 followed by the Power Tractor Pull at 12:30 p.m. The Cornhole tourney at 2 and a Sundae with the Reece Christian Church from 2-4 p.m. The Bucket Calf show will be at 4:30 p.m. with the little kids and Lamb lead-in contest at 6 p.m. All of the pre-fair champs will take their turn in the showring in a parade at 6:30 p.m. Monday, after a lot of clean-up, join all of the kids and their animals in the showring at 7 p.m. for the 4-H/FFA livestock sale in the showbarn. All are welcome.
