Clayton “Dean” Piatt

Clayton “Dean” Piatt beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle, went home to be with his Lord on May 20, 2023 at his home in Arvada, Colo. Dean was born on September 29, 1944, in Neodesha. He attended North Lawn Elementary and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1963. He was preceded in death by his parents James “Dusty” Piatt and Betty (Davis) Piatt and his brother Don Piatt. He is survived by his wife of the home, Janice Piatt, his daughter Rebecca (Piatt) Markham and husband Bill Markham of Chanute, son Martin Piatt and wife Windy Piatt of Arvada Colo., brother Jerry Piatt and wife Sandra Piatt of Neodesha, five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Wanda Eileen Evans, 88, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Morningstar Care Homes, Fredonia. Wanda was born on September 26, 1934, in Severy, the daughter of Raymond and Ena (Johnson) Henderson.

Wilma Leigh Straight Lewis

Wilma Leigh Straight Lewis, age 92, passed away on July 11, 2021, in Montgomery, Texas. She was born on November 1, 1928, in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of George Shukers Straight and Rilla (Bryan) Straight. Leigh graduated from Eureka High School in 1946. She attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence for one year, majoring in commercial art, transferring the following year to Kansas State in Manhattan where she was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in May of 1950. At KSU, she was a member and president of Chi Omega sorority. Leigh married her high school sweetheart R. F. “Bob” Lewis on August 20, 1950 in Tulsa, Okla., beginning their 68 years together. Due to her husband’s career with Phillips Petroleum Company, the family lived in several locations in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana. They returned to Texas in 1964, residing in Dallas and Sugar Land. Leigh and Bob had been residents of Walden on Lake Conroe since 1992.

Karleen L. Jackson, 72, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, May 11, 2023, at Yates Center Health & Rehab Center. Karleen was born August 31, 1950, at Chanute, KS, one of the 12 children of Clayton A. Wells, Sr. and Florence (Stone) Wells. The family moved to Yates Center from Chanute when Karleen was in high school and she attended Yates Center High School. On April 12, 1969, she and Robert Allen Jackson were married at Yates Center. They became the parents of a daughter, Kylie.
