Matthew Rodger Hunt, 69, of Eureka, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at the Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka.

He was born on December 3, 1950, in Ottawa, the son of Ralph, Jr. and Jeanne Marie (Marconett) Hunt. The family lived in various places during his formative years including Ottawa, Fairview, and Valley Center. He graduated from Valley Center High School with the Class of 1968.

On November 3, 1973, he was united in marriage to Shelley Kathryn Shippy in Wichita. They made their home in Ottawa. To this union, two children were born. The family later moved to Denver and later Minneapolis. He was a businessman and after returning to Wichita, always owned a business. He owned and operated E.L.F. Children’s Center in Wichita for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Shelley of the home; sons, Brady J. Hunt of Wichita; and Taylor Hunt of Eureka; father, Ralph Hunt, Jr. of Wichita; two grandchildren: Gillian and Keane Hunt; and siblings: Jane Baker of Wichita; and Dan Hunt of El Dorado.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Barrier-Ladd Cemetery, in Eureka. Cremation has been effected.
