Gus Carpenter, Jr.
Gus Carpenter, Jr, son of Gus and Ida Piper Carpenter was born October 29, 1934 and departed this life on June 20, 2018. Gus, Jr. graduated from Cedar Point High School, received a Bachelor’s Degree from Emporia State and a Master’s Degree from Colorado State University. May 29, 1955 he was married to Ramona Bland of Piedmont. This marriage ended in divorce in February 1998. In the fall of 1998 he and Betty were married. Gus, Jr. taught school in Minneapolis, Kansas and Topeka. He was employed at Goodyear in Topeka. After moving to Greenwood County he worked for the Greenwood County Road and Bridge Department. Later he worked at Boeing in Wichita until his retirement. Gus served on Otter Creek Township board and later as a Greenwood County Commissioner. Gus, Jr. was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Morris Gene and Richard Jay and sisters Juanita Pierce, Yvonne Allen, Anna Starnes and Janet Remschner and nephews Greg Allen and Galen Carpenter. He is survived by his wife Betty and her grandchildren along with sister Cleta Scott, Strong City and brother Gerald, Council Grove: Six nephews and four nieces and several great nieces and nephews.
