Gary Lee Whittaker
Gary Lee Whittaker, 64, of Severy, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.
He was born May 5, 1955 in El Dorado, the son of Harold and Opal Whittaker. He grew up in Towanda and attended Circle High School. After school, he spent three years serving our country in the US Army. He worked for Boeing in Wichita, retiring after 26 years. He was a member of the Masonic Hope Lodge #155 in Howard.
He is survived by sons: Gary Whittaker Jr. of Milton, Wis., Josh Whittaker of Yorba Linda, Calif., Trever Brooks (Whittaker) of Severy, Travis (Corky) Whittaker of Roberts, Wis. Trace Church of Severy, and Broker Whittaker of Severy; daughters: Crystal Houchin of Severy, and Crashena Wade of Severy; 24 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother: Sam Whittaker of California; sisters: Gladys Sherby of Blaine, Wash., and Linda McVicker of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Harold Whittaker III, brothers: Albert, Larry, Charles, Jr., and sister Glenda June.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 1, at the Severy Baptist Church in Severy. Interment followed in South Lawn Cemetery, Severy.
The family suggests memorials in his name be made to the Masonic Hope Lodge #155, Howard, and can be sent in care of, Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, PO Box 1233, Howard, KS 67349, who were in charge of service arrangements.
