B. J. (BOBBY JOE) BROWN

B. J. (Bobby Joe) Brown, Ponca City, Okla. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. He was 83 years of age. Bobby was born November 2, 1934 in Eureka, to J.W. (Jim) and Amelia Ellen (Millie) Lewis Brown. Growing up he lived in Eureka, Severy, and Reece. He attended school in Eureka. Bobby married his forever sweetheart, Rozella Keating, December 26, 1953 in Hamilton. They lived in Emporia, Pampa, Texas and in Wichita for 35 years before moving to Ponca City, Okla., where they resided for 28 years. Bobby and Rozella had three sons, David, Mark and Daniel. B.J. enjoyed cars, working on them, which became his career, drag races and Nascar. He was employed at various car dealerships in Wichita as a master mechanic. He was an avid fisherman. For him there was no better place to fish than upper Fall River, near Eureka. He also loved to hunt with his sons and buddies, making many pheasant hunting trips to Western Kansas and Nebraska. He also hunted quail, duck, turkey and deer. You might have seen B.J. sitting on the bench at Walmart visiting with friends and passerbys, as that was his real enjoyment for the last several years. B.J. and Rozella spent 10 summers in Estes Park, Colo., enjoying the mountains and working at Estes Park Ford. They also spend nine winters in Key West, Fla. where their son David lived. B.J. was a born again Christain, member of Crestview Baptist Church in Ponca City, Okla. He was preceded in death by infant son Mark, son David, his parents, brother Jimmie Dean, sisters Mary Ellen and Nancy. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife Rozella, son Danny and daughter in law Nancy, granddaughters Tanya Giammanco and Ashlee Lofton and great-granddaughter Tessa. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stittsworth Cremation Services. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Crestview Baptist Church, 38 S. Indian Hill Road, Ponca City, Okla. Bring a memory, song, or story to share. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
