Known affectionately as “Mammie” by family and friends and to the cousins as “Cracker”. Carolyn was the cherished daughter of William and Frankie (Hugo) Hodgson. In her youth, Carolyn was quiet and reserved, but as she grew into adulthood, she discovered her voice—a voice marked by very spicy. Bluntly honest that those close to her have come to deeply respect.
Carolyn’s personal journey was marked by her enduring marriage to Steven Rhoads, whom she met in Emporia. They shared forty-five years together, building a life rooted in love, partnership, and commitment. Steven survives her and remains by her side, a testament to their lifelong bond. Together, they raised two sons; Lucas and wife Samantha Rhoads. Michael Rhoads and wife Erica Rhoads, They were proud grandparents who loved all 6 of their grand kids. Carolyn adored her grandchildren, finding immense joy and purpose in her role as their Mammie.
Carolyn loved to travel as long as it was on the ground. Life long memories of camping with friends and family. That included many card games, dice, corn hole. As long as her friends and family were by her side, she was happy.
Carolyn is also mourned by her sisters, Bobbie Hawkins and brother-in-law, Tony Potter, Terra Geist, and brother- in-law, Phillip Geist.
Her passing leaves a space that will be deeply felt by all who loved her. Carolyn will be remembered for her bold authenticity, her fierce love for family, and that infectious laugh that will forever be heard in the memories of all that loved her. She touched many with her presence, and her legacy continues through those she held dear.
