A committee comprised of Eureka residents met last week and began making plans to promote the January 30, 2019 school bond election.

Last Tuesday afternoon, residents in several counties reported a loud boom. Speculation quickly arose as to what could have happened; however, no source was found.

Last Tuesday’s Eureka city council meeting began with Mayor Terry Doerr announcing his plans to resign at the end of 2018.

Twenty-two Eureka Tornadoes placed at the Cherryvale Middle School Tournament last Thursday, November 8, in Cherryvale.

Three Lady Tornadoes received post-season honors when they were named to the All Tri-Valley League Volleyball teams last week.

Stoney Lee Sherman, 49, of Moline, died on Monday, November 12, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Traci Sue Felter, 55, of Parsons, died Sunday, November 11, 2018, in Wichita.

She was born in Eureka, Kansas to Herb J. (Rose) Newlon and Karen Sue (Branstetter) Benton.

Jacobus Gerardus “Jake” Borst, 87, of Valley Center, died Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka.
