At their regular meeting last Monday, Eureka City Councilmembers discussed implementing an ordinance that would prohibit residents from blowing grass clippings into city streets.

Eureka USD 389 continues to look to the future and again reviewed the building proposal last Monday, September 10, during their regular monthly meeting.

At our last City Council meeting, discussion turned to the much anticipated rebuilding of River Street. Since I began this job, people have been asking when we could fix River Street.

Last Friday, the Eureka Tornado football team traveled to Caney to take on the hosting Caney Valley Bullpups, the only 3A football school in the Tri-Valley League this year.

During the first week of action, Eureka senior Brooklyn Hilton was named the “Kansas MaxPrep Player of the Week” for volleyball.

The Lady Tornado golf team will start their season this Thursday, as two of the three team members will travel to Fort Scott for the Uniontown junior varsity tournament.

Beulah May Mast, 88, formerly of Severy, died on Sunday, September 9, 2018, in Grove, Okla. She was born on April 23, 1930, in Piedmont, the daughter of Frank “Curly” and Dorothy (Biggs) Miller.

Charlotte Ann Wiggins of Eureka, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka at the age of 94.

Hope Smith, of Eureka, died Sunday, September 9, 2018 in Eureka. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, at Christian & Congregational Church, in Eureka, at 3 p.m.
