Eureka Area Food Pantry Seeking Donations

A local food pantry is seeking assistance from the community as the Eureka Area Food Pantry, sponsored by the Eureka Area Ministerial Alliance, is running low on food, again. The organization was low prior to Christmas but an $800 anonymous donation was made that stocked the shelves. Several other area organizations and churches followed suit and the shelves were full.

Participated At Citizenship In Action Conference

On Feb. 18 and 19, seven Greenwood County 4-H’ers attended the Citizenship in Action conference in Topeka. The purpose of the event is for Kansas youth to learn how the state legislative process works and how their voice and participation in decision-making can make a difference in their local communities. The legislative visit included a trip to the capitol building, and also showed them how they can affect the legislative process. While there, delegates had the chance to debate on an upcoming bill and even vote on them. They also had the opportunity to meet with our District House and Senate legislators, and to sit in on a committee meeting. Those in attendance were Brooke Gaines, Savannah Bruno-Pelky, Sydney Lindamood, Jersey Cox, Reece Winder, Cooper Boone and Sutton Nelson. We are very proud of all our delegates and the commitment they have made to “Make the Best Better” with their time and effort to attend.
