Road Superintendent John Schouten provided his weekly report to Greenwood County Commissioners on Monday, December 4. Downedtreeswerediscussed as an issue in multiple locations in the county. Commissioner Roy Ballard shared two locations where trees were needing addressed: Y50 Road and 230th Street. Schouten reported that crew members were working to remove a tree that went down on 255th Street between P and Q Roads. Truck 25 broke down and was in Emporia for repair. A quote for repairs was presented at $16,981.68. This unit is a 2017 Kenworth. Following review of the quote received, commissioners approved proceeding with repairs. He described issues with water pooling as the result of a plugged drain. Legal Counsel Paul Dean told commissioners that he had been contacted by an individual who voiced that road conditions were poor north of Hamilton and Virgil.
What a whirlwind week this has been. If it hadn’t been for the football games on Sunday, I’m not sure I’d know what day of the week it is. Definitely had all sorts of weather this past week; rain, snow, sleet, ice, sun, clouds and a full moon to boot!
