To Serve As FACS Agent

After nearly 26 years of serving the twin city, Minn. area, Jayne Whitson has decided to return to the southeast Kansas area. This Tuesday, Whitson began as the Greenwood County Family and Consumer Science agent. The title may be new, but Whitson is no stranger to 4-H. As a child, she was a member of the Kansas Kids 4-H Club, in Altoona. At the time, the idea of serving as a county agent wasn’t even an thought; but one summer, Whitson returned to Wilson County from Kansas State University and worked in the extension office. Although she wasn’t ready to jump in feet first, she fell in love.

Whitson earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from KSU in 1987, with an emphasis in graphic design. This degree prepared her for careers in both design and communications. In 1991, she earned her Masters of Arts degree, also from KSU, with an emphasis in theatre and costume design. She has previous experience as a communications specialist, event planner and a project manager.
