To Recognize Hometown Heroes

The VFW Post 2712, the American Legion Post #50 and the City of Eureka will host a dedication ceremony recognizing local veterans who are featured on the banners which will be displayed on Main Street, Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10 a.m.

The event will be held in front of the Veterans Memorial on Main Street. The names of all veterans depicted on the banners will be announced. The banners will honor Greenwood County veterans, both living and deceased, who live or have lived in the county and have served with any of the United States Armed Forces, including the Coast Guard and Merchant Marines. All veterans, their relatives and the public are invited to attend.

There are currently 23 veterans listed on the banners which will remain on display until later in November and will again be displayed in the months of May and July. The veterans will be asked to sit in chairs on the street in front of the Memorial, when their name is announced, a boy scout/ cub scout will bring the banners to them and stand beside them and hold them. Afterwards the families may take pictures with them.
