• Deputy Mike Miles With Karma

New K-9 Deputy For Greenwood County

Although he didn’t think a career in law enforcement was in his plan, Greenwood County’s newest Sheriff’s Deputy, Mike Miles, fell into the role eight years ago.

Deputy Miles graduated from Lyons High School in 2006 and soon after enlisted in the United States Air Force. His goal, to be a member of the Special Forces; however, due to injury, Deputy Miles was assigned as a law enforcement officer. For the next six years, he would continue that role. After being honorably discharged, Deputy Miles sought other career paths, but nothing seemed to fit. His heart was in law enforcement. For the past two years he has been serving as a deputy in Linn County, but something was missing, a K-9. Deputy Miles began looking for open K-9 positions, and found an opening within Greenwood County, after former Deputy Dave Oehm took a position in Oklahoma.
